Chick Flick Chat: The Beguiled

The Beguiled movie poster
In this Sofia Coppola directed film, the Civil War sets the stage for a complex attempt to examine the relationships between men and women, their roles, stereotypes, and desires. Join me as I discuss The Beguiled, starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Kirsten Dunst, and Elle Fanning, and all its many layers that could have made for a truly beguiling movie. Interestingly, this film feels a bit like watching an episode of "The Bachelor" show set in 1864!

Thank you, Joe! I am glad you like the Chick Flick Chat, and the movie ;)

Yes, I think it is getting a bit bashed, the reviews are strangely negative with little appreciation for what is good about this film.

I'm planning on doing more CFC's on a regular basis. Hope you'll listen again soon.

Luci, Thank you so much. I thought I was the only one who liked the movie. Everyone I know hates it. But I loved how the female characters triumphed. Your taste in movies is so spot on. It’s amazing how great your blog is. Keep it up please. I live for this.

Oh, Thank you! The film is decent, and it has a lot of well produced aspects. A lot of the reviews are really bad, but I don't think it falls to that level. Definitely worth watching once.
