Two Word Tuesday #19: Make Lemonade
Nothing says "summer" more than an ice-cold glass of lemonade... Sweet, tart, and oh so refreshing on a hot day. While a tempting glass full of mother nature's goodness is a welcome sight, sometimes we get served sour lemons in other areas of our life. It may be a heart ache, a difficult issue, or you are experiencing one of those days. Remember, there is always something positive that can come from it, even if it isn't apparent at the moment. The only thing that matters is that you #MakeLemonade out of those sour lemons.
You can push the progress along by squeezing the juice, throwing away the pits, adding some sugar, mingling it with water, and mixing it up to get it just the way you like it. Obviously, only you know what that lemon tarting up your life is. If it makes you feel any better, every one has their own "lemon(s)". If life gives you lemons, get to work and #MakeLemonade so you can extract some nourishing goodness from your lemons. It is really about replacing the bitter with the sweet!
Here is my favorite lemonade recipe, you can easily cut it in half if a gallon is more than you need. I use an electric juicer (see ad below) to squeeze the lemon juice, which makes this a very easy process {12-14 lemons will yield the two cups of lemon juice - depending on size and juiciness}. In my written copy, I suggest making ice with the mixture because ice of the same mixture prevents dilution of the delicate flavor. You can also use blueberries or raspberries in the ice if you are out of oranges; it adds some visual interest. I've used this recipe for many pitchers of this natural, not too sweet or overpowering lemonade:
