CHICK FLICK CHAT: Hold on to your remote! We are shaking things up with the first Chick Flick Chat about television shows, The Housewives' Reality Shows, Fact, Fiction, or Foolishness? From New York to Beverly Hills, CFC co-host Susan Ragazzo and I are crisscrossing this national obsession chatting about the proliferation of shows featuring housewives. What does it say about our society? The women who open up their lives to the camera? How much is fact, fiction, or is it all tomfoolery? If so, is the joke on the housewives? No matter where you live, join us live for the HWA radio show on Saturday, November 27, at 11:30am EST to examine this phenomenon along with the dirty dishes - ahem - laundry that these shows reveal.
UPDATES
Our 2nd Birthday Party Is Over: It's time to give out the goodies to 4 HWA email subscribers and/or friends on the HWA page on Facebook. Congrats to Bill, Aida, Paula, & Katie! The specifics of the October gift giveaway will be announced on the Facebook page this week.
November's Gifts: We have two new paperback copies of the NY Times Best-selling Novel, "The Tomb," by F. Paul Wilson. The gift books are updated versions of this story from the popular "Repairman Jack" series. If you don't know Jack, he's a ruggedly handsome hero you'll want to spend a late night adventure with! Think Russell Crowe meets Jason Statham.
REMINDERS
Cold & Flu Season Blues: Before the fall is over, cold & flu season is upon us. Thankfully, no pandemic is feared this year, but you can never be too careful. To help you stay away from those nasty germs, revisit HWA's popular article, Cold and Flu: 10 Easy Tips to Keep The Germs Away.
Pumpkins Aplenty: Was there an over abundance of pumpkins this year? Their bright happy orange color could be spotted everywhere. Whether they are sitting on your steps, carved or whole, in a table arrangement, or piled up in your garden, make sure to harvest the seeds.
Don't have one handy? They will be on sale now that Halloween is over. Here's a quick and easy Roasted Pumpkin Seed recipe to make a tasty and healthy snack:
-For every 1 - 1.5 cups of seeds, mix with: 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 tablespoon melted butter or olive oil. NOTE: You can use the slightly cleaned seeds right out of the pumpkin OR clean them well but let them dry for 24 hours before baking.
-Spread out mixture in a single layer onto a cookie sheet. Preheat oven to 300°F and bake for 45 minutes until golden brown. Cool and store. Simple to bake... ENJOY!!
