Petals of Wisdom

Close-up of Giant Sunflower

Lately, it seems everyone I encounter is struggling with one thing or another. The trends are: life is getting in their way, they are revisiting old wounds, or change is presenting unexpected difficulties. If you are picking up on this energy in your life, these vital petals of wisdom can shine rays of sunshine on your demeanor.

Pick at least one petal from this list today...it will serve as the seed for a brighter tomorrow.

Don't fret about the future. It's a waste of time.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes; they're only signs that you're growing a little.

Be resourceful. If you can't get what you want one way, try another route.

Do what you love and love what you do. Do something because you love it, not because you expect fame or fortune.

When you're feeling down in the dumps, do something for someone else; it helps you forget your woes.

Take responsibility; don't blame others for what happens in your life.

Be the kind of person you would want to have as a friend.

Love others because you want to, not because you expect anything from them.

Don't let pain get you down. If something hurts, it's going to hurt whether you're in bed or climbing a mountain.

Don't bear grudges.

You're old when you feel sorry for yourself.

Surround yourself with positive people. Attitudes rub off.

You may not be perfect, but you're good enough. ~ Author Unknown

The above petals of wisdom come from a list I've had pinned on my cork board for a long time. Like the list in Risky Business...Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained, many of these philosophies have helped me grow when the timing was right. I hope they can help you, too.

Which petals of wisdom speak to you? Do you disagree with any? Do you already follow certain ones in your daily life? Share with us.

@Bose: Love the feedback...it is so good to hear from the HWA readers about the content. Thank you for sharing, and I hope your day gets better. Your Mom is right, worry is a wasted emotion. That is definitely one I have to work on!

I was having a crappy Monday and then read this....thank you! I also went back and read the risky business list again and enjoyed that, too. Another petal - my mom always says that 'worry is a wasted emotion'.

@Ruth: Excellent addition, thank you...one that is very important to remember, too.

These are all wonderful thoughts. I cannot pick one that is better than the others. I will add another petal to the bunch ...

Let me have the strength to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference.
